Player of the Week honors go to Mcdermott and Lewis
It's the 1st time that the American League Player of 
the Week award goes to Kansas City's pitcher <a href=p2642.html>James 
Mcdermott</a>. Mcdermott was overpowering all week 
long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00. Along the way 
he struck out 9 in 15 innings. He hurled a shutout 
as well. Opposing players hit .276 against James this 
season. While posting an ERA of 4.88 he went 4-7 in 
14 starts, fanning 57 and walking 25 hitters. James 
has pitched one shutout and 2 complete games. The Player 
of the Week award in the National League goes to San 
Diego's <a href=p377.html>Kevin Lewis</a> this time, 
as the second baseman displayed the best offensive 
perfomance in his league. In 24 at bats he hit .500 
with 2 HR and 7 RBI.
